Backpacks For Life Honored at South Jersey Regional Stand Down
Backpacks For Life was honored to attend the South Jersey Regional Stand Down, held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the All Wars Memorial (Soldiers Home) in Atlantic City, NJ. The event ran from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and served as a vital resource fair for veterans in need.
The South Jersey Regional Stand Down is an annual event dedicated to supporting homeless and at-risk veterans in the South Jersey area. Its mission is to help veterans re-enter mainstream society by connecting them with essential services such as medical care, mental health support, housing assistance, benefits counseling, employment opportunities, clothing, and meals—all in one accessible location.
Launched in 1996, the Stand Down has grown into a powerful collaborative effort involving local VA Medical Centers, the Department of Labor, community-based service providers, and veteran organizations. It is often supported through federal programs like the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) and continues to be a vital lifeline for veterans across the region.
Backpacks For Life was proud to have Alexa Modero D'Alessandro represent the organization at this impactful event. During the day, Alexa accepted an award on behalf of our co-founder, Brett D'Alessandro, recognizing his outstanding efforts to assist and advocate for the homeless veteran community.
We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve and stand alongside other dedicated partners working to make a difference in the lives of our nation’s heroes. Events like the South Jersey Regional Stand Down are a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when we come together with a shared mission
