Verona National Night Out Finally Here After 20 Years!

On August 6, the township of Verona hosted the National Night Out behind the Verona Community Center featuring all emergency services like the police department, fire department, Verona’s Rescue Squad, the FBI, and Special Forces Unit. We also had a booth set up where attendees could play Cornhole, make donations, buy BFL merch, or spin a virtual wheel to win a free BFL item! National Night Out is an annual event held in towns across the country, where the community comes together with emergency services, such as law enforcement, fire department, and rescue squad, to discuss protection and safety. 

The event kicked off with a helicopter landing in the community center’s parking lot where attendees could take photos. Live demonstrations were being shown throughout the event from all of the emergency services. The police department showed how they can reveal fingerprints on paper and informed attendees on how they can avoid theft and more. The fire department had a truck parked where children could climb inside and learn about the many functions of the truck that firefighters work with during an emergency. They also conducted a live demonstration where they showed everyone how they safely enter a vehicle if an unconscious person were locked inside. An ambulance was also on site for people to climb in and explore.

On the field, children enjoyed three different bouncy slides and houses while parents watched and took photos. To end the entire event, everyone was escorted into the gymnasium where a live canine demonstration would commence. The police department would feature their canine unit to show off the dog’s capabilities when a crime takes place. 

Special thanks to the Township of Verona for hosting and inviting us to such a great event. We also thank all emergency services for coming out and educating the public on valuable, helpful lessons in safely dealing with emergencies. We’re grateful for our law enforcement, public safety officers and  first responders that keep our community safe!
